Voting by Post
It’s polling day and you have a chance to vote for the change that this country needs, but you have to...

Make sure your voice is heard. Apply for a postal vote today and cast your vote from the comfort of your home and in your own time. Voting by post is an easy and convenient way of voting if you are unable to get to the polling station to vote in person.
Who can apply for a postal vote? Any registered voter can apply for a postal vote. You do not need to give a reason to vote by post.
Where can I get my postal vote sent? A postal vote can be sent to your home address or to any other address that you give. Postal votes can be sent overseas, but you need to consider whether there will be enough time to receive and return your ballot paper by election day.
When will I receive my ballot papers? Postal votes are usually sent out about a week before election day. Once you’ve got it, mark your vote on the ballot paper and make sure you send it back so that it arrives by close of poll (which is 10pm on election day). If it arrives later than this your vote won’t be counted.
How do I apply? To vote by post, give us a call on 01962 762025 and we will send you a form. Once you have completed the application form you need to return it to us or you can send it direct to the Council. Your application form must be received by the Council at least 11 working days before Polling Day for your application to be successful.
Can I apply on-line?
You cannot apply on-line because the electoral registration office needs your signature to combat voting fraud. However, you can download and print an application form at http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/ and send it direct to the Council.
If I have a postal vote can I still vote in person? Yes, but only if you take your completed postal vote to the polling station before 10pm on polling day.
