Cllr Prad Bains says, "Today I was delighted to open a newly refurbished subway mural in Wecock along with Cllr Elaine Shimbart. We were fortunate enough to be shown the art personally by many of the young artists who helped create the mural. The display was made possible by the efforts of pupils from Rachel Madocks School, Woodcroft Primary School, Little Acorns Toddler Group and by other local people. Highlighted in the display are special local places such as the Wecock Poppy Memorial, Billy’s Lake, Wecock Woods, the Crocodile Park, Hobby Close Skate Park, Living Waters Church and the Acorn Community Centre. A lovely tribute to Cllr Gerry Shimbart features on the display as an ever lasting reminder for what he achieved for the local area as a Councillor, Mayor and resident. A special thanks goes to Havant Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Signs and Plastics LTD, Laura Bevis, Ann Waters, Scott Elliot and most importantly the young people and residents who gave up their time to make this project possible.
