"For 33 years since my parents moved to Meonstoke, this area has been my home. I was a councillor in Winchester and the MP for Portsmouth South between 2015-2017. My husband, was born and brought up in Petersfield and we got married in Bishop’s Waltham. We have four grown up children.
I have been involved in national and local charities and worked as an Ofsted inspector and insurance broker. While in Parliament, I was a member of the Women and Equalities Select Committee and worked on county infrastructure for the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Hampshire. I set up the Women and Work APPG and Cybersecurity APPG.
Publications include ‘No Blame Game – the Future for Children’s Social Workers’ and a chapter on Coastal Communities in ‘Beyond Brexit’ as well as articles on Yemen, women and other topics . I am also the Voluntary Director of the Conservative Policy Forum.
My local priorities for the Meon Valley include making sure development is appropriate and well-built in keeping with the environment; supporting our farmers and rural businesses; working towards legislation to stop noisy motorbikes which affect the A32/A272 and campaigning for better mobile phone coverage and broadband in all areas."
